Screen View: Live Device Monitoring

Screen View lets teachers and administrators see real-time screenshots of student device screens. Whether you're monitoring a classroom of 30 students or checking on a single device, Screen View gives you instant visibility into what students are doing on their devices.

Before You Begin

  • You need Teacher, Admin, or Viewer role in KyberGate
  • Student devices must be online and enrolled
  • Screen View requires the KyberGate agent or Chrome extension to be installed on student devices

  1. Open KyberClassroom and select your class
  2. The device grid automatically shows live screen thumbnails
  3. Click any thumbnail to expand to full-screen view

From the Dashboard

Privacy and Compliance

Screen View is designed with student privacy in mind:

  • Active only during school hours (configurable in Settings → School Schedule)
  • No recording — screenshots are live only, not stored permanently
  • Role-based access — only authorized staff can view screens
  • Audit log — all Screen View access is logged for compliance

Tips

  • Use the grid view for general classroom monitoring — you can spot off-task behavior quickly by scanning thumbnails
  • Full-screen view is useful when you need to see exactly what a student is working on
  • Set up alerts — KyberPulse safety alerts automatically flag screens with concerning content, so you don't need to watch every screen constantly
  • Keyboard shortcut: Press G to toggle grid size between compact and expanded views

Troubleshooting

  • Screen showing as black? The device may be in sleep mode, or the screen capture permission hasn't been granted. Check device settings
  • "Offline" status? The device isn't connected to the internet. Verify Wi-Fi connection on the device
  • Blurry thumbnails? This usually indicates a slow network connection. The image quality adjusts based on bandwidth
  • Screen View not available? Ensure the KyberGate agent or Chrome extension is installed and up to date
